My motive to go on in life can be best explained by a simple fact: it is easier to do things, than to give up. There is very little in life made better by staying in bed all day or taking drastic and grisly action, and on days where you’re going to be miserable you might as well be miserable and busy, because you stand a chance of cheering up while you do things but no chance if you stagnate. You might not do well, but ignoble failure is the base state for not trying in the first place.
